The beautiful Hedy Lamarr has a United States patent in her name.  In 1942, she and George Antheil patented a frequency-hopping spread-spectrum system for torpedo guidance.  This same technology serves as the basis for today’s Bluetooth and COFDM used in Wi-Fi network connections.
